Government Announces New Licences For Fracking.

Posted by on August 19th, 2015 with 0 Comments

The Government has announced the successful applications to frack new areas of our countryside, in a bid to industrialise them and destroy them forever.

Our islands are already heavily populated and the pressure on our beautiful and varied countryside is greater than ever.

The Government has also made it clear that they intend to circumvent the checks and obstacles that are in place to protect us and our environment, just so they can get their greedy little hands on the vast profits that are possible.

This is at a time when there are about to be announcements of cuts to Government services and departments of 40% in some cases. Expect DECC and DEFRA to suffer more than most. At a time when protection of our environment is becoming more crucial, our Government will allow a free hand of prospecting oil and gas companies to self-regulate in a potentially devastating enterprise. Any checks will be irregular, scant and those inspectors that do survive the cull will be left toothless and ineffective against an overtly powerful industry.

The Cotswolds area has not been earmarked by the industry at this stage, but that does not mean we should be complacent. Remember that our area was offered up and what happens in Lancashire and the Midlands will eventually happen here. This industry has no means to stop it once its juggernaut gets rolling. We need to offer encouragement to all those protecting their families and environment in the newly licensed areas, because somewhere down the line, we will be next!
