GOV ANNOUNCES FRACKING IS ‘HALTED’
Let’s be clear about this. Halting is not an outright ban, it means that it can be revisited and very simply reversed.
Fracking in heavily populated areas that contain vast numbers of abandoned coal mines and their myriad of uncharted faults was always a numbskull idea. The lure of fast money as achieved in the USA was always going to be too difficult to resist for some in Government. Boris has decided that given that he is going to have to win some of Labour’s heartland constituencies in the north of England and the Midlands, the last thing he needs is fracking to become a factor, ‘so let’s pretend we’ve ditched it’, is his and Dominic Cummins apparent thought and action. Most people concerned about the issue can see through this populist electioneering.
Those of us genuinely against it should make it clear still that this is just false packaging and not a real change!
